The ovaries produce estrogen (estradiol) from puberty to menopause. When ovulation occurs, progesterone is produced
Estrogen and progesterone enter cells in areas such as breasts, vulva, vagina, uterus, urethra, bladder, skin and parts of the brain that control mood, sleep, and temperature
After menopause, very little estrogen is produced
