General Information
 
 Mouth or oral cavity includes the lips, the lining of the cheeks (the buccal mucosa),    the gums or gingiva, the hard palate and the floor of the mouth

 The anterior 2/3rds or the mobile part of the tongue, is also considered part of the oral    cavity


 Malignant tumors may arise anywhere on the mucosal lining of the mouth or in the    numerous small salivary glands that help to lubricate the mouth

 Most (95%) are squamous cell carcinomas
