About Us
Cancer Aid & Research Foundation (CARF) is a renowned non profitable medical organization with ISO 9001: 2015 certification , based in Mumbai, India, founded in the year 2001 by late Prof. A. A. Kazi, with a dedicated mission of providing financial aid, to the underprivileged cancer patients and other diseased Individuals at large. Also, we undertake major steps to spread awareness about the disease of cancer among the masses. The mission built by late Prof A. A. Kazi has crossed two decades of its passionate dedication of easing the painful struggles of the needy cancer patients. For over 22 years, CARF has been providing caring service to the patients and has grown to a patient friendly foundation with all the support and generosity from existing CSR’s, supporters and other donors.

An Inspiring Story behind CARF & its formation
Cancer Aid & Research Foundation (CARF) was founded by Late Prof. Abdulqadir Abdulla Kazi (Late Prof. A.A. Kazi) in the year 2001 in the loving memory of his late Mother Mrs. Fatimabi Abdulla Kazi who died of cancer in 1959.
Our Founder Late Prof. A.A. Kazi was like a ray of sunshine, brightening up everyone whom he touched. He started his career sleeping on the streets of Mumbai city and started India’s largest medical NGO - Cancer Aid & Research Foundation (CARF). As a founder of CARF, he began his journey serving the same street children who suffered with the dreadful disease of cancer. Along the way, he also formed several other charitable Institutions for welfare and education, and was involved in setting up a Cooperative Bank viz. ‘Kokan Mercantile Co-op. Bank Ltd. established in the year 1969.The Bank presently has about 24 branches all over Maharashtra and more than 500 employees working for them. He also served as a Municipal Councilor for several years. All this whilst he was working as a teacher, who eventually rose to become the Head of Department of Political Science at ST Xavier’s College in Mumbai. READ MORE...

Mr. Shamshi Mulla, a distinguished businessman and philanthropist, serves as the Chairman of Cancer Aid and Research Foundation (CARF) and is widely regarded as the driving force behind the organization’s growth and impact. He is the Co-founder of M/s. Sahil Automobile and Pioneer Textiles & Construction, bringing over 22 years of entrepreneurial leadership across diverse industries.
A visionary leader, Mr. Mulla’s foresight and unwavering commitment have transformed compassion into meaningful action. Under his chairmanship, CARF has emerged as a symbol of hope, responsibility, and trust for countless beneficiaries.
His leadership is marked by wisdom, accountability, and a deep commitment to social good, further strengthened through purposeful engagement with leaders across political, corporate, film, and cultural spheres—propelling the Foundation to greater heights of excellence and outreach.
Mr. Mulla began his journey with CARF as an Honorary Chief Executive Officer and was subsequently elected as Chairman of the Foundation. A true personification of versatility, he has successfully guided CARF through its critical growth phase, delivering the highest standards of service and governance while reinforcing its mission of compassionate cancer care.

Mrs. Savita Nathani, fondly recognized as the Pride of CARF, exemplifies how focused vision, sincere effort, and structured planning can translate organizational goals into sustained impact. She joined Cancer Aid and Research Foundation in 2008 as an Accounts Manager and, over a dedicated journey of more than 18 years, progressed through multiple responsibilities and leadership roles to be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Foundation. In her role as CEO, Her leadership blends strategic brilliance with a deeply human touch.

A Commerce graduate (B.Com.), Mrs. Savita Nathani brings a strong foundation in finance, administration, and governance to her leadership role. In addition, she has successfully completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Vastu Shastra (PGDIV) from Shree Maharshi College of Vedic Astrology, Udaipur, securing distinction with Grade A+. Her academic pursuits reflect a commitment to continuous learning and holistic perspectives, further complementing her balanced, thoughtful, and values-driven approach to leadership at Cancer Aid and Research Foundation.

Prof Dr. Rehan A Kazi joined CARF as life trustee in 2001. He did tremendous work for the well-being of cancer patients. In February, 2013 he was elected as the Chairman of CARF. During his tenure as Chairman, CARF achieved various achievements and milestones under his guidance. Presently, he serves as the Hon’ble Chairman Advisory and Patron of CARF.
