CAN YOU HELP TO SAVE HIS/HER LIFE ?

“My son is my world for me. Seeing his suffering is unbearable. I wish I could take his pain, but there is nothing I can do to help him,” sobs his father Ganesh Shinde in disappointment. “Even when he was just a little, Dhanraj’s laughter and smile would instantly light up all our struggling life. . .” His mother Poonam recalls his past memories.

It was during February ‘2021, little Dhanraj began to frequently fall sick with severe stomach pain followed by high fever, loss of appetite and swelling was noticed at the naval part of his stomach. The parents took him to their family physician and did their best to alleviate his pain, but nothing worked with the suggested treatment plan. Later, when the child’s activities were curbed, that made them anxious about his worsening condition, the parents collected all their savings to take him to a better hospital for treatment.

Over there, it was found that Dhanraj’s platelet count was abnormally low. After a few tests, the little boy was diagnosed with “High risk Neuroblastoma” and the only curable treatment suggested is “High dose chemotherapy & Autologous Bone marrow transplantation, that is costing around Rs.10,00,000/- approx including the Chemotherapy, supportive care, investigation, medicines & other hospital expenses. The said treatment is not covered under MJPJAY Scheme and the costing may increase with complications. This huge sum is completely out of reach for this poor family.

As Mr. Ganesh is a daily wage laborer into farming activities and as of now he is jobless, there is no way he can arrange this high amount. The family survives with a meager income with is not sufficient to meet their daily needs and a two year old infant baby expenses, along with their elder son Dhanraj’s treatment.
